Even Rams fans have to sometimes admit that certain teams are formidable opponents for L.A.: I’m picking the Philadelphia Eagles to be the Rams this week, 33-24.
Change my mind. Why do you think the Rams will win this week or why do you think the Eagles will win this week?
NFC Playoff Implications
This contest could have massive implications for how the NFC playoff race plays out, and this may be one of the more exciting matchups of the weekend given that each team is viewed as a top team in their respective conference. Both
franchises delivered a playoff game to be remembered last year when the Eagles JUST topped the Rams in the snow to move onto the NFC Championship game.
On their Super Bowl run, no other team gave the Eagles the same level of challenge than the Rams appeared to present Philly. Have the Rams done enough to be able to win this game after coming up short last season?
The Eagles’ passing game hasn’t been top of the league as Jalen Hurts has yet to throw a touchdown, but he’s made up for it with his legs and his ability to manage and win games. Philadelphia still has Saquan Barkley at the running back position, and so any critique of Philly’s offense should be taken with a grain of salt as they are doing what they need to do to win games.
Philly’s defense will be another tough test for the Rams offense, and as long as Jalen Carter doesn’t spit on anyone, expect him to be tracking down Matthew Stafford all day.
For the Rams, they are 2-0 and they’ve done it two different ways. Against the Houston Texans, the Rams played a tight game and found a way to come out on top. Against the Tennessee Titans, the Rams started slow, looked a bit lost, and then found a new gear in the second half to put the Titans away to handedly secure the win.
Will Sean McVay finally notch his first win against Nick Sirianni?
How long will it take until you are pulling your hair out at the tush push?
Winning factor(s):
The Eagles have a more versatile quarterback, they have the better running back, their defense is as good if not better than L.A.’s and it’s unclear how good (or awful) the Rams’ special teams unit is in coverage. The Birds may control each phase of this game, and that’s that.
Final Score Prediction:
Eagles 33, Rams 24
