The Philadelphia Eagles’ first team-issued depth chart ahead of the 2026 NFL season is HERE!
And now to immediately tamper the excitement: it doesn’t mean much.
It’s not like this depth chart is carefully crated with insight from the front office and coaches. It literally says “Compiled by the Eagles Communications department” (AKA the PR staff) at the top of the graphic. And it’s only issued to the public because it’s mandated by the NFL.
Even if this was the Eagles’ actual internal depth chart, there’s still plenty of time for things to change between now and roster cuts down to 53 players. There’s still a handful of training camp practices and three preseason games left.
But for the sake of content, let’s put the cynicism aside and play along.

NOTES
- With Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee rotating QB2 reps, we already know there’s a backup quarterback battle going on. But here’s more confirmation. Dalton is listed first due to last name alphabetical order but he’s also arguably in the lead in reality.
- Will Shipley is going to be RB3 on this roster, whether you like it or not.
- Nothing shocking about how the wide receivers are listed but it is notable to see Lemon with the starters despite the fact he’s missed a lot of time in camp and didn’t stand out prior to getting hurt. Lemon might not actually be a Week 1 starter with the likes of Cooper and Moore having strong summers. Or at least there could be a heavier receiver rotation than there’s been in recent years.
- Whereas Lemon is listed with the starters, the Eagles aren’t even pretending that Stowers is a top two tight end right now. With the way the Eagles laid out tight end on this chart (see below), I don’t know that he’s even necessarily TE3. I tend to think Stowers might be a healthy scratch … early in the season, at least.
- It’ll be interesting to see if Fred Johnson — who hasn’t had a great summer — is the Eagles’ swing tackle or if he’s just the backup on the left side (assuming he makes the team) while Bell is the top backup on the right side. Seems like that battle between Big Fred and Bell is still ongoing.
- Hinton has been working more at guard than tackle this offseason.
- Michael Jordan is not actually the top backup at left guard. That’s Drew Kendall. Kendall is also the top backup at right guard.
- In terms of both the listing here and practice reps, Majors is higher on the depth chart than one would expect. Don’t think he’s playing well enough to make the roster … but maybe he sneaks on because the coaches like him?
- Ojukwu also gets more reps than you would expect and he’s been above Williams.
- No surprises with the defensive linemen or linebackers.
- Cornerback is interesting because McWilliams was first up at outside cornerback with Mitchell getting banged up on Tuesday. Of course, Jonathan Jones is also banged up.
- Gushiken has more often lined up at safety than nickel corner.
- Marcus Epps seems like a good bet to win the starting safety battle over Michael Carter II. But MC2 will still contribute as a dime defender in addition to providing depth at safety and nickel CB.
- Interesting to see Covey listed as the top punt returner. Makes sense in terms of him probably being the best option (assuming Cooper DeJean is off the table due to his defensive role). But not so sure Covey makes the roster.
- Shipley is listed as the top kick returner but Darius Cooper was also notably getting some reps in that role on Tuesday.
- What stands out to you? Let me know in the comments below.
