Chelsea went into the international break on the back of a rousing victory over Liverpool, but also with a growing injury list that was causing some selection problems.
Thankfully, it sounds like all those
players who were held out of international duty to help them recover their fitness a bit — including the likes of Moisés Caicedo, Reece James, and João Pedro — are set to indeed emerge fitter, healthier, and hopefully even more productive on the other side of the break.
And among them is Enzo Fernández as well, despite some concerning reports coming out of Argentina that he was dealing with a knee inflammation. According to the BBC, the plan was “always” for Enzo to miss Argentina’s second match and it was more of a “load management” situation.
In less great news, Cole Palmer’s now expected to miss all of October, “feared” to be out until November, as per the Evening Standard. Palmer’s been dealing with a groin issue for a while, with Chelsea hoping to nurse him back to match-fitness through conservative treatment. But it’s looking more and more like he’s going to need surgery to become consistently available to play once again, and we’re just wasting time and delaying the inevitable, which isn’t helping anyone.
