BVB to challenge Bayern on Woltemade? (The Hard Tackle)
There is some debate as to whether or not the rumors of Newcastle United is already willing to sell Nick Woltemade are true. If the Magpies are, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich could be set to do battle over the big German:
Borussia Dortmund will reportedly compete with Bayern Munich in the race to sign 24-year-old German international Nick Woltemade from Newcastle United this summer. According to a report by TEAMtalk, Nick Woltemade is the subject of interest of Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga
champions are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Newcastle United centre-forward has emerged as a target for the Bavarian outfit.
However, Bayern Munich will not be alone in the battle for Woltemade’s signature heading into the summer transfer window. Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also keen on signing the Bremen native. However, his prospective suitors do not want to break the bank to sign the Newcastle United striker.
Widespread reports linked Nick Woltemade with Bayern Munich last summer, but a deal did not materialise. The continued interest makes sense, as Harry Kane is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. So, Bayern Munich can do with a new striker, with Woltemade emerging as a viable target. Recent reports have claimed that the youngster is open to joining Bayern Munich.
As for Borussia Dortmund, Niko Kovac can do with an alternative to Serhou Guirassy, even though the Guinean striker has been excellent for the Bundesliga club. So, the Black and Yellows are scouring the market for a striker, with Woltemade emerging as a viable target.
However, while Woltemade is a target for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, the two Bundesliga giants are not ready to cough up anywhere close to the £69 million Newcastle United paid to sign him from VfB Stuttgart last summer. With the duo eyeing a discounted deal, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 24-year-old German international.
It still seems doubtful that Newcastle United is ready to offload Woltemade and even if the Magpies are, just how much would they want for him? With Harry Kane set to ink a contract extension at Bayern Munich and Serhou Guirassy entrenched at Borussia Dortmund, it seems like a longshot for either club to seriously chase Woltemade.
However, if BVB boss Niko Kovač continues to be allowed to run his preferred systems, Borussia Dortmund could find a way to use a versatile attacker like Woltemade. It could be harder for Bayern Munich to present as seamless a plan, given the glut of talent it has at the attacking midfield role.
A back-up spot behind Kane might not be appealing for Woltemade, though that might depend on the length of Kane’s extension.

Spurs could pass on Palhinha because Goretzka is free (Sport Witness)
Tottenham Hotspur could pass on a permanent acquisition of midfielder João Palhinha in favor of getting Leon Goretzka for free:
Tottenham’s interest in Goretzka is nothing new either. Sport Witness have covered numerous reports about that over the last year.
Those have picked up following his announcement that he’ll be leaving Bayern Munich on a free transfer this summer. There was even, reportedly, a surprise bid at the end of the January transfer window.
The expectation is that he will be a firm target for Tottenham when the summer window opens. But now, it seems, that could also mean Palhinha is discarded in favour of him.

Liverpool are considering making a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall, according to TEAMtalk. It is reported that the Reds have registered their interest in the 20-year-old, who is also on the radar of Aston Villa, with Spurs struggling in the Premier League this season. Juventus midfielder Khéphren Thuram, 24, is another player that scouts from Anfield are looking at, but a deal could be more difficult for him, with Juve planning to offer him a contract extension. Reports in Brazil have also linked the club with a €35 million move for Palmeiras’ Allan Elias, 21.
United eager to sell Sancho (ESPN)

Manchester United are ready to let winger Jadon Sancho leave for free when he returns from his loan spell at Aston Villa, says The Sun. The Old Trafford hierarchy have reportedly decided against offering a new deal to the 25-year-old with a view to landing a future transfer fee, but they can’t continue to pay such big wages for a player not in their plans. Sancho signed a five-year deal worth £300,000-a-week when joining Red Devils for a fee of €85 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, and has been on loan at Dortmund, Chelsea and now Villa since. But this season he has struggled to make an impact at Villa Park, having scored just one goal in 25 appearances.
