The Golden State Warriors begin a six-game road trip with Tuesday night’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM PT in Oklahoma City and can be watched on NBC Sports
Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State snapped a two-game losing streak with Sunday’s 114–83 win over the Indiana Pacers. The Warriors outscored a severely shorthanded Pacers team in every quarter but truly broke the game open in the fourth, outscoring Indiana 39–18 to close the game out.
Jimmy Butler led the way with 21 points and seven assists — four of which set up Al Horford three-pointers. The veteran big man, who had been struggling with his shot to start the season, rediscovered his rhythm by hitting 4-of-6 from deep for 12 points in 18 minutes. After the game, Butler said he made it a point to get Horford going early.
What to watch for tonight:
The Warriors face a major test against the reigning NBA champion Thunder on Tuesday, but they’re expected to get a major boost with the return of Steph Curry, who missed the past three games due to illness.
Golden State will need all the help they can get against an Oklahoma City team that has been dominant to start the season, owning the league’s best record at 10–1 after opening the year with eight straight wins. They’re also undefeated at home, while the Warriors are just 1–5 on the road.
That said, Golden State went 2–1 against the Thunder last season and have played them competitively in recent matchups. The Thunder will also be without All-Star Jalen Williams and All-Defensive First Teamer Lu Dort, which could open the door for a more even battle.
