The unfortunate part about the NFL news cycle at this stage of the calendar is that injuries tend to make up a lion’s share of the headlines.
That’s been true in New Orleans, where, among the injuries picked up so far in training camp, came the news of Dillon Radunz’s ACL tear, which will sideline him until 2027. The versatile offensive lineman was set to play a key role as a depth piece across the line this year.
In his absence, a key name to look out for is Saints rookie and fourth-round draft pick
out of Auburn, Jeremiah Wright.
Head coach Kellen Moore was asked about Wright after Tuesday’s session.
“Good player, physical player,” said Moore. “These will be great opportunities for him in these preseason games, a ton of reps, but also these joint practices to see some other competition, so it’ll be great for him.”
“I love what he’s doing right now, and he’s playing some really good football.”
With a month still to go before the regular season, it remains to be seen whether Wright will be deemed ready to play a role from week one. But Radunz’s injury emphasizes the need for depth pieces to step up along the O-Line.
Wright starred at right guard over the last two seasons at Auburn. He’s a name to keep a close eye on as preseason unfolds.
