With the holiday season coming around, and the close of the NFL s regular season, it is now time to see the official Pro Bowl Games rosters. Over the past few weeks, the NFL has had fans vote for the players
they felt were deserving of the Pro Bowl honor. However, fan voting only accounts for one-third of the total vote , with NFL coaches and fellow players also accounting for the other two-thirds of the vote.
With all of that said, along with the Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks led the NFL in 2025 with six players selected. Those players were quarterback Sam Darnold, and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on offense. On defense, defensive tackle Leonard Williams, defensive end Demarcus Lawrence, and cornerback Devon Witherspoon. And lastly, for special teams, return specialist and midseason trade acquisition Rashid Shaheed.
This will be Darnold and Smith-Njigba’s second straight Pro Bowl each. It will also be Williams’ third Pro Bowl, the first two coming in 2016 and 2024. Lawrence earns his fifth Pro Bowl honor, his first since 2023. Witherspoon has made the Pro Bowl in all three seasons of his NFL career. Lastly, for Shaheed, this will be his second Pro Bowl honor, the first coming in 2023, also as a return specialist. Alternates for the Seahawks include safety Coby Bryant, linebacker Ernest Jones IV, special teamer Brady Russell, and fullback, Robbie Ouzts.
Though the Seahawks are tied for the lead in the NFL for Pro Bowl selections, there are surely a few omissions, especially when considering these two did not even make the alternates list. First, kicker Jason Myers, who is chasing an all-time NFL record. It is tough to make the Pro Bowl as a kicker since there is only one selected. On top of that, competing with Dallas Cowboys kicker, Brandon Aubrey is one tough battle. When comparing the stats between Myers and Aubrey, they are awfully comparable.
- Myers has an 88.1% field goal percentage to Aubrey’s 88.9%.
- Myers is 100% on extra points to Aubrey’s 97.7%.
- Myers has the edge on points with 155 points to Aubrey’s 138 points.
- However, Aubrey bests Myers with a long of 64 compared to Myers’ long of 57.
Second, and the more egregious of omissions is defensive tackle, Byron Murphy II, who was leading all defensive tackles in fan voting prior to the final Pro Bowl rosters being announced. The three defensive tackles who made it in Murphy’s place were Jalen Carter, Leonard Williams, and Quinnen Williams. The two Williams’ makes sense considering their play this season. However, when comparing the 2025 resumes of Murphy and Carter, it is awfully suspect as to why Carter got the nod instead of Murphy. Murphy leads Carter in all big stat categories.
- Murphy has 57 tackles to Carter’s 32
- Murphy has 7 sacks to Carter’s 2
- Murphy has 7 tackles for loss to Carter’s 4
- Murphy has 12 quarterback hits to Carter’s 11
- Neither player has a forced fumble or interception
- Carter does have one game suspension for spitting on an opponent to Murphy’s 0
Despite these two omissions, the Seattle Seahawks do not plan to participate in the Pro Bowl this year anyway, as they have their sights set on a different Bowl played in February. A Super one if you will.
