
Japanese forward Mina Tanaka has signed a contract extension with the Utah Royals through 2028, the club announced on Friday.
Tanaka is one of the Royals’s top players, and has scored three goals for the club since she joined in July 2024.
Tanaka won the 2025 SheBelieves Cup with Japan, where she was also named the tournament’s MVP. She scored four goals and three assists across the competition’s three matches with impressive performances
that led Japan to win the tournament for the first time.
Before joining the Royals, Tanaka played for Kobe Leonessa in Japan’s WE League.
Tanaka’s goalscoring record includes 213 goals over 325 total club appearances throughout her career, in addition to 33 goals in 77 appearances throughout her international career for Japan.
