Compared to the chaos of the past few weeks, this Saturday was a relatively quiet one in college football.
There were still some great games: Oklahoma-Ole Miss and Vanderbilt-Missouri both lived up to their billing as top-15 matchups, Memphis stunned then-#18 South Florida with a fourth-quarter rally, then-#22 Texas stunned Mississippi State with a fourth-quarter and overtime rally, and #4 Alabama needed a fumble recovery and a touchdown inside the final two minutes to survive at South Carolina. Another
close call happened in Chapel Hill, as the Tar Heels came up inches short on an overtime 2-point conversion that would have knocked off then-#16 Virginia.
Ultimately, though, no major upsets happened. That was reflected in this week’s top 25, which saw no changes to the top six for the first time since 2023 (it’s worth mentioning that #1 Ohio State and #5 Georgia had byes this week). There were some notable changes farther down, though. Let’s take a look.
