Another week, another potential NFL record for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Allen can set another scoring record against the New York Jets on Sunday. With his first touchdown, Allen would hit the 40-touchdown
barrier for the sixth time in his career. That would be tied for the most all-time with Aaron Rodgers very unlikely to hit 40 touchdowns this season
Here is the top of the list:
1. Aaron Rodgers (six seasons)
2. Josh Allen (five seasons)
3. Tom Brady (four seasons)
To make it even more impressive, Allen can extend his streak to six consecutive seasons. No one has more than two consecutive; Rodgers 2011-2012, Rodgers 2020-2021, Brady 2020-2021.
Rodgers won the MVP in four of his six 40-touchdown seasons. Brady won the MVP in one of his four 40-touchdown seasons. Allen won it in only one of his five 40-touchdown seasons so far.
Total touchdowns is passing plus receiving plus rushing plus return touchdowns. The NFL lists “touchdowns scored” to the player who actually crosses the goal line with the ball, so it doesn’t include passing scores.
Earlier this season, Allen became the youngest person to score his 300th NFL touchdown and the quarterback with the second-most wins in his first eight seasons.
