Ian Garry and Khamzat Chimaev nearly came to blows following the conclusion of UFC Qatar earlier today (Sat., Nov. 22, 2025) LIVE on ESPN+ from inside the ABHA Arena in Doha, Qatar, but luckily their backstage
incident only resulted in a shove from the UFC middleweight champion.
Earlier today, Garry made good on his co-main event showdown with former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad to capture a unanimous decision win and stake his claim to a potential UFC title shot. Things appeared to be going well for Garry during and after the fight, but that’s before “The Future” ran into Chimaev backstage.
The two UFC stars appeared to share a cordial greeting before Garry turned back around and noticed Khamzat kept staring him down. Garry then asked if Chimaev was okay and that’s when things turned ugly. Even UFC Qatar main event winner, Arman Tsarukyan, was involved at one point. The entire ordeal resulted in Khamzat shoving Garry, but it could have been much worse.
Check out the incident below:
“I’m gonna f—k you up b—ch,” said Chimaev.
“That’s childish,” responded Garry. “You’re meant to be a champion in this sport.”
Afterwards, Garry stepped on stage to partake in UFC Qatar’s post-fight press conference (replay HERE) and was asked about his backstage run-in with the UFC middleweight champion. Garry held nothing back in his assessment of Chimaev.
See Garry’s reaction below and let us know your thoughts on this unexpected skirmish!
“You’re meant to be a champion of this sport,” said Garry. “You’re a child.
“It’s little d—k energy. I’ll get him one day. They’re all gonna try and grab a hold of my legs, boring little- don’t get me started.”
