The TCU Horned Frogs (4-2; 1-2 Big 12) host in-state rival Baylor Bears (4-2; 2-1 Big 12), formally known between the universities as the Bluebonnet Battle and more commonly known as The Revivalry, the winner
will earn the shield trophy created ahead of the 2023 contest.
Baylor enters the game with the nation’s best passing attack, led by QB Sawyer Robertson who has already thrown for 2,058 yards and 19 TDs with just four interceptions. He has a deadly arsenal of weapons at his disposal, led by WR Josh Cameron and TE Michael Trigg who create impossible mismatches in the secondary. The Bears are far from a one-dimensional offense as its ground game can be lethal as well, powered by star RB Bryson Washington who has 557 yards on 5.5 yards per carry with five rushing scores. Baylor has been vulnerable defensively this season, allowing just under 30 points per game, placing the Bears 15th overall in the Big 12 while also ranking last in the league in defensive sacks. The Bears enter the game following a bye week and is currently riding a two-game winning streak after taking down Oklahoma State and Kansas State in the two weeks leading up to the bye.
TCU enters the game having lost both of its road conference games, falling to Kansas State and Arizona State thanks to three Josh Hoover turnovers in each contest. Hoover has put up big stats, ranking just behind Baylor’s Robertson for tops in the nation while WR Eric McAlister is second nationally with seven receiving touchdowns despite officials stealing one from him vs. SMU and missing most of the game at ASU. Defensively, safety Jamel Johnson leads the Big 12 in interceptions and running mate Bud Clark leads the conference in passes defensed; the duo will need to play at the peak of their powers to slow down the explosive Baylor aerial attack.
