Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh gave a reporters a number of newsworthy nuggets on Monday during his usual presser. Aside from the bombshell about Joe Alt having season-ending ankle surgery, Harbaugh also informed members of the media that rookie running back Omarion Hampton would not be returning from IR until after the team’s Week 12 bye.
The budding
star whom the Chargers selected in the first round of this year’s draft was on pace to record over 1,000 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards as a rookie before going down with an ankle injury he sustained against the Washington Commanders in Week Five.
This news means that the Chargers will have to rely on the duo of Kimani Vidal and Jaret Patterson to keep their rushing game afloat for the next three games against the Steelers, Jaguars, and Raiders. Should anything happen to either of those two, the Chargers will have Amar Johnson next in line who was elevated to the active roster against the Titans.
