This time last year, Lennart Karl was lining up for Bayern Munich’s U-17s. He was not even making the starting lineup for Bayern’s U-19s in the UEFA Youth League. Fast forward 12 months and he delivered
a starring performance against Club Brugge in the senior version of the Youth League, the Champions League, scoring his first ever goal for the Bavarians and winning the Player of the Match award to boot. He has come so far in such a short period of time…but this is not the time to believe the hype and believe himself a star.
Fortunately, Karl knows that too. Speaking about his recent development after the match, Karl emphasized the need to keep working: “Things are going well but there’s a lot more work to be done. Everyone can keep working on their weaknesses and strengths, which is what I’ll continue to do,” the former Viktoria Aschaffenburg youth player said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I’m pleased with my development from the U17s to U19s and now a first Champions League start. I’m delighted.”
If he keeps his eye on the ball and does not let the fame get to his head, there may be many more special Champions League nights like this in Karl’s future.
