UConn men’s basketball freshman commit Colben Landrew will represent Team USA at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup in Mexico. Landrew is among 12 athletes in the graduating classes of 2026 and 2027 on the roster.
The 6’6 wing will make his Team USA debut in Leon, Mexico, from June 1-7. The squad is led by Dayton’s head coach, Anthony Grant, and assisted by Alabama’s Nate Oats and Colgate’s Matt Lengel.
Landrew and the USA will play in Group A, which consists of Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. They tip off the tournament
against Argentina on June 1 at 7:30 p.m., play Mexico the following night at 10:30 p.m, and wrap up the group stage against Brazil on June 4 at 5:00 p.m. The Americans have dominated the group, having a combined record of 30-1, with their lone loss coming to Argentina.
The top four teams will punch their ticket to the FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup in China next year.
The 4-star recruit from Georgia, according to 247sports, will play a crucial role for the Huskies in the upcoming season. Getting some summer action and learning from premier NCAA coaches will benefit the 18-year-old. Landrew averaged 24.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in his senior season, as he was named the 2026 MaxPreps Georgia High School Player of the Year.
