Victor Osimhen appears ready to end his chapter as a Galatasaray player and return to one of Europe’s top leagues, and the latest development involving the Nigerian striker could have a domino effect that helps Barcelona’s dream in this market.
According to multiple reports, Osimhen has been offered to Atlético Madrid and is willing to lower his giant salary in order to join Diego Simeone’s side. Osimhen is said to be a big fan of Simeone as a coach and wants to play for him, and his relationship
with Nigerian international teammate and Atlético winger Ademola Lookman is also behind his desire of moving to the Colchoneros.
Osimhen has also been offered to Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, though Spurs are the only ones to have even approached Galatasary with a €55 million offer that was instantly rejected by the Turkish club, who want close to €100 million for the player.
Atlético don’t appear to eager to move forward with a deal for Osimhen just yet given his salary, which would still be pretty high despite the player’s willingness to lower his demands, but Atlético are intrigued by the possibility and could be interested in a deal in the €75 million range, according to the reports.
If Osimhen does arrive at the capital, Barça might finally be able to get a deal done for Álvarez. Sporting director Deco is meeting with Julián’s agent this week to discuss their next steps in negotiations with Atlético, who might finally be willing to talk if they do decide to sign Osimhen.
