Sean Strickland defeated Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 … or did he?
The fight was decided by the fifth and final frame, with judges Eric Colon and Sal D’Amato giving the round to Strickland, while Sue Sanidad scored it in favor of Chimaev. The result was a split decision victory for “Tarzan” and an ongoing debate over whether or not “Borz” got screwed out of the strap.
UFC subsequently uploaded the entire fifth round to its YouTube channel (embedded above) to give fans a closer look at what happened in
the final five minutes of the UFC 328 main event, which took place last Sat. night (May 9, 2026) on Paramount+ from inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Not long after, Chimaev demanded an immediate rematch.
I guess that jump to light heavyweight will have to wait.
Running it back would force the promotion to skip No. 2-ranked title contender Nassourdine Imavov, who was defeated by Strickland at UFC Vegas 67 back in early 2023. There’s also the matter of former champion Dricus Du Plessis, who wants an opportunity to reclaim the crown after scoring two previous victories over Strickland.
