The road to recovery has not been easy for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala.
The burgeoning superstar saw his career hit a roadblock at the Club World Cup last summer when he suffered a broken fibula and some ligament issues in his ankle. After a very aggressive timeline for his return, Musiala has not had the easiest time — physically or mentally.
Musiala is currently battling ankle issues, which have kept him out of action for Bayern Munich and prevented him from being healthy enough to travel to partake
in training camp with the German national team.
Former Bayern Munich and German national team star Lothar Matthäus believes that the 23-year-old needed to regain his confidence before anything else will fall into place.
“He needs playing time, but most of all, he needs to rediscover his self-belief. He doesn’t need to force anything; he simply needs to rediscover the joy of playing football,” Matthäus told Sky (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Both Musiala and Bayern Munich are likely feeling the pressure with Musiala’s recovery given the massive contract he was given last year. Surely, the player’s health is the most vital part of this whole scenario, but patience will be needed to fight the urge to either allow Musiala to continue to push himself too hard in an effort to return or for Bayern Munich to give into the temptation of hoping he is okay and will instantly revert to his old form.
