The San Francisco Giants are almost surely going to miss the postseason, but they can at least enter the offseason having won their final contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The slimmest of silver linings, I know, but beating the Dodgers is always better than losing to the Dodgers.
San Francisco is up against right-hander Emmet Sheehan, who makes his 11th start and 14th appearance of the year. The 25-year old, who is in his second season, is 6-3 with a 3.17 ERA, a 3.23 FIP, and 76 strikeouts
against 22 walks in 65.1 innings. He’s been lights out lately, allowing just four runs in 24.1 innings over his last four starts.
The Giants are using somebody. Somebodies, really. At the time of me scheduling this post, they haven’t announced a starter for the hole in their rotation. Carson Whisenhunt could presumably return, though I doubt it. I would assume a bullpen game started by Tristan Beck, Carson Seymour, or Trevor McDonald. But if you’re reading this, you probably already know what the situation is, even if I don’t.
Enjoy the game everyone. Beat LA, please. Please.
