The official end of the Hinrunde (minus those postponed games) is here.
The Bundesliga has had a wild ride so far this season with Bayern Munich showing it is head and shoulders above everyone else in the league, a thin second tier, and a whole of parity.
That said, there have been many standout performances for Bayern Munich and elsewhere in the league. During an appearance on Sky Germany, Lothar Matthäus named his Best XI of the Hinrunde:
- GK: Gregor Kobel, Borussia Dortmund
- D: Konrad Laimer, Bayern Munich
- D: Dayot Upamecano, Bayern Munich
- D: Edmond Tapsoba, Bayer Leverkusen
- D: Alejandro Grimaldo, Bayer Leverkusen
- M: Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich
- M: Christoph Baumgartner, RB Leipzig
- A: Yan Diomande, RB Leipzig
- A: Michael Olise, Bayern Munich
- A: Luis Díaz, Bayern Munich
- A: Harry Kane, Bayern Munich
Do you have any beef with that list? Who do you think Matthäus missed on? Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, Mainz 05’s Nadiem Amiri, RB Leipzig’s David Raum, Hamburger SV’s Luka Vušković, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Rasmus Kristensen, Wolfsburg’s Maximilian Arnold, and VfB Stuttgart’s Deniz Undav and Maximilian Mittelstädt all had strong cases.
