Bayern Munich have long maintained an interest in Feyenoord right back Givairo Read as the club’s front office is planning for this summer’s transfer window. They want to bring in reinforcements during the upcoming window as they are prepping for departures of Leon Goretzka and Raphaël Guerreiro, while there could be other players on their way out. In the defensive department, they also already offloaded Sacha Boey back to Galatasray during last winter’s transfer window.
In Read, Bayern identified
a player with the right profile to go on and have a bright future. He’s only 19-years-old, has been a regular starter for Feyenoord, and has been attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs other than Bayern. While he is currently dealing with a hamstring problem, there’s still been no indication that Read won’t work his way back into the starting lineup when he’s fully fit, but there’s plenty of interest in him going into this summer.
Per information from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, negotiations between Bayern and Feyenoord for a potential Read transfer this summer have not progressed whatsoever. Internally st Bayern, they really do not want to have to spend more than roughly €30 million to bring the youngster to Munich, but Feyenoord want more than that, creating the roadblock. Per Transfermarkt, he’s currently valuated at €25 million, but his contract with the Eredivisie club runs through June 2029, so Feyenoord have the power at the negotiating table. He also does not have a release clause in his current contract with the Dutch side.
Plettenberg also reports that Manchester City are also still interested in Read and potentially trying to sign him this summer. From a financial perspective, they would more than likely be willing to spend more money than Bayern would.
For now, Bayern is going to keep their focus on players like Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon and Hertha Berlin’s Kennet Eichhorn for this summer’s transfer window, while they have also maintained an interest in Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Aslani, who has also garnered a great deal of interest from abroad.
