Newcastle United spent the summer refusing to entertain the prospect of losing Lewis Hall, and the club is now moving to strengthen its position further as interest in the left-back continues.
According to NUFCBlog, Hall has already agreed a new and improved contract with Newcastle, with only the legal formalities standing between the 21-year-old and an official announcement.
“NUFCBLOG can exclusively reveal that Lewis Hall is set to sign a new contract at Newcastle United after reaching an agreement
with the club over significantly improved terms,” NUFCBlog reported. “It’s understood the deal is now in the final stages of being formalised, with legal formalities ongoing ahead of an official announcement.
“An agreement has been reached between all parties and the belief is that Hall has agreed an additional two years, which would effectively tie him to Newcastle for another five years.”
Hall’s current contract runs through 2029, so the reported extension would keep him at St. James’ Park until 2031. The improved terms are intended to reflect his performances and increased role within Matthias Jaissle’s squad.
TEAMtalk’s Richie Mills subsequently highlighted the development amid Manchester United’s continued interest in Hall.
Manchester United explored a potential move during the summer but was unable to convince Newcastle to sell their man. Mills reported that Hall remains a long-term target for the Red Devils, although Newcastle has made clear that it has no intention of entertaining offers for the England international.
NUFCBlog added that Jaissle is a “huge admirer” of Hall and considers the defender central to his plans, and suggested Newcastle could address other contracts in the coming months, in particular Jacob Murphy’s and Joe Willock’s, after they both remained at the club through the summer transfer window.
Does Hall’s expected extension finally end Manchester United’s chances, or do you expect another approach in January or next summer regardless? Let us know in the comments below.
