To our incredible community at Arrowhead Pride,
It is my final week at the website, and all I can say is thank you.
When Joel Thorman recruited me to work under him in 2017 and later take over in 2018, I knew it was the opportunity of a lifetime. Before our conversation, I had been working at the Mothership, admiring what he and Chris had built from afar — I loved AP’s interface, the crafty way Joel would relay Chiefs news and the passion of the readership that would lead to dozens and dozens of comments
on every post.
I knew following Joel would be a tough ask, but he reminded me that I didn’t have to be him. I just had to be me. And I hope that over the last eight years, we have elevated the coverage and made him proud.
I often get more credit than I deserve for the success of Arrowhead Pride, so I think it is important to say that it was never just me. I was afforded the luxury of working with so many talented contributors, and I know without them the site could have never reached the heights it has.
I’ll miss working with our executive editor John Dixon, who cares more about these pages than you’ll ever know.
I’ll also miss working with our great film team, which has transformed over the years from the days of Seth to the Nerd Squad to Ron Kopp and now Caleb James and Nate Christiansen. All those mentioned analyzed the film in their own way, but what I have loved along the way is the consistency of bringing legitimate football analysis to the table.
Truth be told, I’ll miss all of our writers — with special thanks to Rocky Magaña and Jared Sapp, who have aided John and me as our core during the bulk of this championship run. Thank you to Tom, who continues to do a fantastic job with our daily headlines, Stags, the beacon of the early site days, and Steve, for being a consummate pro in producing our podcasts.
Because of my belief in all of these names (and even those I haven’t mentioned), I know Arrowhead Pride won’t flinch. And that is perhaps the best quality of this thing the Thormans built. AP is a living, breathing thing — and it has never been about one person. It’s about you, the community and your unquenchable thirst for Chiefs news and content.
I’m grateful I won’t be far, as I truly look forward to seeing where AP goes next. These eight years have flown by in a flash. Thank you so much for being a part of my journey.
Note: In my departure, we have discontinued the Arrowhead Pride Premier Newsletter. All ongoing subscriptions will be refunded.
