Matt Sieg Visits Notre Dame
Four-star 2026 safety Matt Sieg visited Notre Dame over the weekend, and the Irish made a strong pitch for him:
The way things are trending, it is only a matter of time before Sieg flips. He is still committed to Penn State, but Notre Dame has eaten our lunch in recruiting in the past year.
Pierce Petersohn Reopens Recruitment
Four-star 2026 tight end Pierce Petersohn has reopened his recruitment:
Petersohn committed to Penn State on June 25. Minnesota would be the most likely destination should he decide to decommit from Penn State, as he has made four visits to the Gophers already.
Isaac Chukwurah Visits Miami
2026 three-star defensive lineman and Penn State commit Isaac Chukwurah visited Miami over the weekend:
Chukwurah committed to Penn State last April. The visit to Miami seemed to go very well, as On3 has projected a 90% chance for him to flip to the Hurricanes. Not a great sign, but it is hard to be too surprised.
Penn State’s 2026 Class Sinks to No. 28
247’s updated 2026 class rankings has Penn State all the way down to No. 28 as of today. Hiring a new coach might stop the bleeding, but with a heavy outgoing senior class and decommits left and right, the Nittany Lions may need to lean on the transfer portal this cycle. Under James Franklin, the coaching staff focused on developing players they recruited from high school while using the portal as a supplement, but that may have to take a backseat for now. This is uncharted water for the Nittany Lions. Penn State is the only power conference team that has never brought in a quarterback from the transfer portal. Next year’s roster will be barely recognizable, but building through the portal has worked for some teams with a new coach. Hope springs eternal.
