Hamzah Sheeraz spoke to BoxNation about a number of topics including the Canelo vs Crawford fight, Chris Eubank Jr calling for a fight against Crawford, and planning for his own next appearance in the ring. Here are some excerpts of what Sheeraz had to say below with the full video interview in the link at the top.
On Eubank Jr calling for a fight against Crawford on social media
“I don’t think that’s a competitive fight in the least. Like, at all. And the audacity of Chris tweeting that is a bit mad. Not very well thought out because I feel like Conor Benn is going
to ruin him. And I’m not saying that being a hater, there’s a valid reason I’m saying it because I feel like the last fight took way too much out of him, way too much out of him. He’s got to make that weight again, he’s only allowed to rehydrate a little bit, he’s older, he’s had hard fights — it’s a recipe for disaster.
On if he knows what’s up next for him
“Nothing yet. And I leave that down to Spencer, my father, Frank, and [Turki Alalshikh]. Listen, every fighter says it but I’ve proven it — I’ll fight anyone. I’ll go in there with anyone. So whatever they think is the necessary plan for what’s next for me, let’s go for it…I’d like to fight in February. The way I’ve kind of geared up the training camps and the pre-training camps, February would be ideal for me.”
On whether Mbilli is in consideration
“I think the Mbilli fight would make sense if Crawford vacates because I’m mandatory and he’s the interim champion. Explosive fighter, strong, it was nice to watch him as well. It would be a great fight, man. Yeah me and him, what a fight it would be.”
