Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to know about as rhe Giants will meet the Washington Commanders this weekend.
Giants standout says ‘bad things’ are coming for Commanders QB Jayden Daniels | NJ.com
Abdul Carter is well aware that he has just one sack through four games this season — and five through his first 21 NFL games. He also doesn’t really care because he knows how he is impacting quarterbacks with his consistent pressure.
“I do think sacks are overrated,” the Giants outside linebacker told NJ.com. “Obviously, it looks the best — getting to the quarterback
and getting that negative play. But at the same time, when you hit a quarterback, they feel it. They don’t want to get hit. It forces them to make quick decisions, and they might throw a turnover.

Giants’ Malik Nabers reminds Matt Nagy of Travis Kelce in all the right ways | New York Post
“I was around a very similar player talent-wise and person-wise in Travis Kelce,” Nagy said before Thursday’s practice. “He was a guy who wanted the ball a lot, and he had great ways on how to let you know how to do it.”
Head coach John Harbaugh actually relayed through the headset that Nabers wanted more targets, as seen on NFL Films. “I do really like it as long as it’s done the right way,” Nagy said. “Malik is without a doubt one of the most talented players – not just receivers – I’ve ever been around. On top of that, he’s probably one of the most competitive. You morph those together and you have somebody that sometimes that may happen. Don’t ever take that away from a player. You are crazy if you take that away from somebody. Don’t ever try to not get him the football.”
Highest-graded rookie of the Week: LB Arvell Reese, New York Giants | PFF.com
When he wasn’t causing havoc at the line of scrimmage, Reese still made an impact in the passing game. Four of his five tackles resulting in a defensive stop came in coverage, where he looked anything but a rookie, decisively chasing down receivers after the catch.
Against the run, Reese looked confident taking on blocks. Along with his tackle resulting in a defensive stop, he recorded multiple wins in the run game where he didn’t make the tackle but still impacted the play.

Defensive Rookie of the Year. 1. Arvell Reese, LB/Edge, New York Giants. Reeseis a very scary player. He has been on the field for over 99% of the defensive snaps for the Giants, opening the year in what has primarily been an off-ball linebacker role while leading the league in solo tackles (27). With Brian Burns suffering a season-ending torn ACL, though, the Giants moved Reese onto the line of scrimmage more often against the Cardinals in Week 4, with their first-round pick playing more than 46% of his defensive snaps as an edge defender, up from 34% over the first three weeks.
The operative phrase with Reese is going to be “stuffing the stat sheet,” and we’re already getting there. Against the Cardinals, Reese recorded his third tackle for loss of the season, batted down a pass and caught an interception off a deflection at the line of scrimmage. Another Reese pressure on a blitz from the second level hit Jacoby Brissett as he threw and produced a pick by Greg Newsome II on an underthrown ball. Reese isn’t the Micah Parsons-esque pass rusher Giants fans might have hoped they were landing when he fell to the fifth pick of this year’s draft, but New York probably doesn’t beat Arizona on Sunday without him being the best player on the field.
The 5 NFL teams most impacted by injuries in 2026, with the New York Giants at the top | The Athletic
1. New York Giants: The Giants are the only team that has lost their starting quarterback for the season, which almost automatically puts them in the top spot. New York is 3-1, which is a pretty place to be heading into Week 5, but the team’s ceiling in 2026 is greatly reduced with Jameis Winston or J.J. McCarthy compared to what it would be with Jaxson Dart. Dart’s season-ending knee injury could also have residual effects on the franchise beyond this season. Losing Brian Burns for the season just cements the Giants in the top spot.
