Manchester City travel across the Lancashire border to face League One high flyers Huddersfield Town, with a place in the fourth round of the League Cup at stake. City have won the trophy eight times in their history, the second best team in the competition, whilst their opponents have never won it.
It’s only the second meeting between these two sides in the League Cup, with City winning the first tie 4-0 at Maine Road after a goalless draw at Leeds Road.
The Blues go into the match on the back of
a 1-1 draw at Arsenal, while the Terriers failed to score for the first time this season as they drew 0-0 at home to Burton Albion.
As always, our team are here to give us their views and predictions on the match. Here’s what we think this week.
Saul
Good challenge for a cup match. Expect rotation and a good win. 4-1. City.
Huddersfield 1-4 City
Will
It’ll be a very different looking City team but it’ll be one that shouldn’t have any difficulty overcoming the Terriers.
Huddersfield 0-3 Manchester City
Thomas
City very nearly saw out a narrow victory at the Emirates. Oh well. Now it’s a visit to League One side Huddersfield Town. Little chance that City crash out in this stage of the cup.
Huddersfield 0-4 City
Pete
Everyone except City fans will be hoping Huddersfield pull off a Grimsby Town, but I don’t think that will happen. The Terriers will probably score, may even open the scoring, but I think City will be too strong.
Huddersfield 1-3 City
What Happened Against Arsenal
The Blues almost produced a 1-0 victory at the Gunners, only to be denied right at the end. And both Will and Pete predicted the Blues would draw a the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Thomas went for a defeat (Shame on you) and Saul crazily went for a win, and to be fair, he was almost right.
Here’s the table:
