Anthony Smith has been released from the Sarpy County Jail in Nebraska after posting $500,000 bond.
Ex-UFC fighter Anthony Smith is going home after posting bond following his arrest on three felony charges. Smith was arrested on Monday evening and remained in custody until Wednesday when he had his first hearing before the judge at 8 a.m. local time. Online court records show his bond was set at half-a-million dollars and he’s now no longer listed among the jail roster in Sarpy County.
There’s no
word yet on Smith’s next hearing on the case.
New details have not been made available with the arrest affidavit sealed by the courts for now, but Smith was arrested and hit with a trio of felony charges.
The charges include Attempted First Degree Domestic Assault (Class II Felony punishable by 1-50 years in prison), Terroristic Threats (Class 3A Felony punishable by 0-3 years, $10,000 fine and 9-18 month post release supervision) and First Degree False Imprisonment (Class IIIA Felony).
At his peak, Smith was one of the top light heavyweights in the UFC eventually working his way to a title shot where he battled Jon Jones back in 2019. The veteran fighter retired from the UFC following three straight losses in a promotion but eventually made his return in a bare-knuckle MMA fight where he defeated Chase Sherman back in April.
