Barcelona legend Gerard Pique has sent out a message after seeing rivals Real Madrid dumped out of the Copa del Rey last 16 by lowly Albacete.
Los Blancos were beaten 3-2 on Wednesday night in what turned
out to be a nightmare first game in charge for new boss Alvaro Arbeloa.
The result did not go unnoticed by Pique who responded on social media. “Good debut for the new Madrid,” he wrote on the King’s League Twitch channel, per Mundo Deportivo.
Madrid’s exit continues a miserable week for Los Blancos. They were beaten by Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday and responded by firing boss Xabi Alonso.
Their early exit from the Copa del Rey means there can be no Clasico in this season’s competition, with Barcelona in action later against Racing.
Hansi Flick’s side will be favorites to progress but know they face a tricky evening as Racing have already dumped Villarreal out of the competition this season.
