Former Indiana wide receiver Myles Price was named the starting kick and punt returner for the Minnesota Vikings, per the team’s week one depth chart. Price signed with Minnesota after not being drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, but made the 53-man roster after impressing in the preseason, particularly as a returner:
Price finished last season at Indiana third in receiving yards, behind only Elijah Sarratt and Omar
Cooper Jr. He was also Indiana’s primary punt returner, with 23 attempts totaling 289 yards. His season-long 65 yard return came against Washington, setting the Hoosiers up for their final touchdown to put the game on ice.
Though he didn’t return kickoffs at Indiana, he did so as a freshman at Texas Tech on occasion before specializing as a punt returner. Per PFF, he was fourth in the nation on missed tackles for all punt returners last year at Indiana, his sole season as a Hoosier.
Price making the roster and having a chance to make a name for himself in the NFL should be a selling-point for Curt Cignetti, as he continues to upgrade the talent up and down the roster. Transfers and high school players alike will see that there’s a route to the pros through Bloomington, even if you have to play behind guys like Sarratt and Cooper.
Price could also see snaps at receiver in Minnesota, but he’d have to pass a few guys on the depth chart to really make an impact. If he gets a chance though, he’s now proven that you shouldn’t bet against him maximizing his opportunities.
