Pregame notes
After being off for about two weeks for the FIBA Tournament games, the W returns to action for the stretch run of the season, and that includes the Washington Mystics who will start the last stretch of the season against
the Chicago Sky. The Mystics, with only four games remaining this season, will only have one game of those four games against a team with a winning record. Already with the playoffs clinched, the opportunity for Washington to get a higher seed is within grasp. With the standings so tight, the Mystics could use the lighter schedule to try to climb up the standings in time for the playoffs.
Hosting the Mystics will be the Chicago Sky, who are eliminated from the playoffs and do not have much to play for. Already missing key rotation players such as Rickea Jackson, Dijonai Carrington and Skylar Diggins, Chicago will be much more focused on evaluating their roster for the upcoming season. This will not be an easy win though. Chicago has the veteran, and former Mystics, Natasha Cloud, as well as rookie sensation Sydney Taylor, who has been a pleasant surprise as an undrafted rookie.
This will be a big game for the Mystics. Tied with the Liberty and being two games out of 4th place, the Mystics will need to win this game as well as the remaining games to climb up the standings, but Chicago will be motivated to play the spoiler.
