Indiana men’s basketball recruiting target Anthony Thompson, a 5-star forward out of Western Reserve Academy in Lebanon, Ohio, will announce his college decision tomorrow, per On3/Rivals’ Joe Tipton:
Thompson’s finalists are listed as Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, and North Carolina. Rivals ranks him as the 6th highest-rated prospect in the class and 2nd highest-rated small forward.
Despite being 6’8” with a 7’3” wingspan, Thompson can score at all three levels. He’s comfortable shooting anywhere on the court, including from 3-point range, making him an obvious fit in Darian DeVries’ offense, which prioritizes shotmaking up and down the lineup.
Thompson has been to Indiana before, spending the weekend of September 12th on campus in Bloomington as part of his official visit.
As of now, Indiana has just one commitment for the class of 2026, Prince-Alexander Moody, who committed to the Hoosiers back in late June. While DeVries will be behind the 8-ball recruiting this class as a brand new coach, getting in so deep with Thompson is a good sign as to how this staff will pursue elite prospects.
Landing Thompson would not only be a tremendous boost on the court in 2026, but could kickstart a new era of high school recruiting under this new staff.
