What is the story about?
The Twins wrapped up their home schedule for the 2025 season, dropping series to the Yankees and Guardians, bringing a merciful end to the hometown Twins fans who had to sit through this entire season. To add injury to insult, Pablo Lopez was placed on the injured list with a mild right forearm strain after fielding a ground ball, ending his season. Joe Ryan didn’t look great in his start on Saturday, giving up three solo homers. Maybe the silver lining here is that our two aces played so poorly
that they are no longer trade assets in the offseason. Yay us?

In the World of Baseball:
- The Toronto Blue Jays clinched a spot in the playoffs and maintain a 2.0 game lead over the Yankees in the race for the top spot in the AL and the AL East, while the Tigers have been free-falling the past few weeks, going 1-9 in their last 10 games, and now only sit one game ahead of the Cleveland Guardians. The Mariners now have a pretty good three-game cushion over the Houston Astros, after going 9-1 in their last 10. Currently, the Yankees and Red Sox are in the #1 and #2 wild card spots, while the Guardians and Astros are tied for the last spot.
- The Milwaukee Brewers now have a three-game lead over the Phillies and look poised to finish as the best team in the National League. The Dodgers clinched their spot in the playoffs and also have a three-game lead in the NL West over the Padres. The Chicago Cubs also punched their ticket to the playoffs for the first time since 2020, and the floundering New York Mets are now tied with the Cincinnati Reds for the final wild card spot, with the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants still lurking.
- Jacob Young of the Washington Nationals had a ridiculous highlight catch yesterday to help send the Mets to an eventual defeat and a tie with the Reds for the last spot in the playoffs.
- Clayton Kershaw made his last regular-season start at Dodger Stadium last weekend, as he plans on retiring after the season. Fabian Ardaya at The Athletic has more on the historic night for the future hall-of-famer.
