We’re into it now everyone. The League Championship Series in both leagues continue as we get closer and closer to the Fall Classic.
First up we will see the Milwaukee Brewers head to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLCS. The Brewers were able to secure the #1 seed in the National League but they’ve blown home field advantage after losing the first two games of this series in Milwaukee. Now they’ll be tasked with taking at least two of three on the road if they want to see their
home crowd again. They kept their cards close to their chest but finally revealed that they’ll go with the opener strategy again, turning to left-hander Aaron Ashby to get the first three outs tonight. After that is anyone’s guess but we could see a similar formula to Game 1 where Ashby was followed by long man Quinn Priester.
The Milwaukee lineup today:
The Dodgers are on the other end of this series in a nearly perfect position. They went on the road and not only stole home field advantage, they took both games in Milwaukee and now have a chance to punch their ticket to their second consecutive World Series in front of their home crowd. The reigning champions will turn to righty Tyler Glasnow as they look to take a nearly-insurmountable 3-0 series lead. This one could be all but over by the end of the night. Can the Brew Crew stave off the beginning of winter with a win in LA tonight?
Here’s how Los Angeles stacks up:
The night cap will be Game 4 between the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto was in Milwaukee’s spot yesterday and they managed to snag a win on the road against the Mariners last night to make it a 1-2 series deficit. They came out in a big way with the offense scoring 13 runs, looking like a desperate team trying to get back in the series. They can take another step in that direction tonight and can even it all up and retake home field advantage with another win. Toronto will send future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer to the mound for his first postseason appearance this October but if he looks anything like he has in the past he should be able to give them a chance tonight. Toronto does not want to fall down 1-3 in Seattle.
The Mariners will on the other hand be looking to bounce back from yesterday’s drubbing. They’re still up in the series with a chance to win two more and punch their ticket to the Fall Classic if they can pull off just two more victories. Tonight they’ll send veteran starter Luis Castillo to the mound. The longtime Mariner doesn’t have many postseason innings under his belt but he’s been rock solid in the playoffs when he does pitch. The M’s will be hoping for more of the same tonight in a crucial Game 4.
