Thank you for voting in our SB Nation Reacts survey this week. With the Washington Mystics securing their playoff berth this week, we asked you all whether head coach Sydney Johnson should be the WNBA Coach of the Year. The majority of you thought he should at 82 percent.
That said, his odds of winning it in real life after the season are like the Mystics’ odds of winning the WNBA championship (7th) at +7500 or something similar for the Washington
Wizards.
Natalie Nakase of the Golden State Valkyries won the award last year, so she is probably not in the running this year or could she? Again, I don’t think she’s winning it.
With the Minnesota Lynx leading the WNBA regular season standings, Cheryl Reeve is in line to win the award a fifth time this year (she already has four). Voters could very well do that so Reeve is the coach who I think will end up winning. Also, Stephanie White of the Indiana Fever has improved their win total while leading a team that deals with more off the court shenanigans than most.
We will find out soon enough when the actual votes are out!
