The Los Angeles Rams are having a bad season by their standards, but no one is having a worse season in the NFL than the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers haven’t won a game. The Rams have won two.
Are the Rams a bigger disappointment than the Chargers? Some could say yes, but the Chargers having zero wins is somewhat inexplicable.
Both teams are playing poorly, or at least not winning. It could cost people their jobs as both L.A. teams were expected to be competitive. If the season ended today neither
would make the playoffs.
The Chargers are 0-6 and are in survival mode.
The Rams are 2-4, so they by the letter of the law have a chance to make the postseason, but it’s nearly lights out. But there is a chance in that Dumb and Dumber kind of way.
Kyren Williams says Rams’ inconsistencies on offense ‘probably’ due to role (espn.com)
“INGLEWOOD, Calif. — After the Rams dropped to 2-4 with an 18-16 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday, running back Kyren Williams was asked why he thought the team’s energy level was inconsistent from drive to drive.
“I can’t tell you, bro,” Williams said. “Probably because I’m not out there.”
Williams has shared the load at running back this season with 2024 third-round pick Blake Corum. On Sunday, Williams played 40 offensive snaps to Corum’s 16. Williams had 10 carries for 50 yards and three catches for 17 yards. Corum had nine carries for 42 yards and two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown.“
Rams K Blake Grupe left SoFi Stadium with crutches and a brace on his leg (nbcsports)
“The Rams signed kicker Blake Grupe after Week 5. They’ll be signing another kicker after Week 6.
Via Arash Markazi of The Sporting Tribune, Grupe left SoFi Stadium with his leg in a brace and on crutches. It was a result of Grupe’s effort to make a tackle on a kickoff return.
The attempt took courage, especially since he’s listed at 5-7 and 156 pounds. (Which could mean he’s actually shorter and lighter than that.)“
Sean McVay on 2-4 Rams: ‘We won’t win a game unless we figure out how not to beat ourselves’ (nfl.com)
““We won’t win a game unless we figure out how not to beat ourselves,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said to open his postgame news conference. “Just so many unforced errors, so many things that are not in alignment with what we want to do, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. … We didn’t do enough. I thought our defense did enough to keep us in the game, but anytime that we’d string a little bit of momentum, we’d turn it over, we’d take a negative. We jump offsides on a fourth-and-3 to put it to a fourth-and-8. We have a lot to look at ourselves on, and we have to be able to go back to the drawing board and figure out how we improve, to be able to not beat ourselves before we figure out how to even come away with some of the results.”
It’s not as if the Rams on Sunday simply let a previously one-win Cardinals team hang around too long — they were in a true battle throughout. Los Angeles never held a lead of more than three points, and in the second half was only ahead for 49 seconds despite the Cardinals failing to score a touchdown for the game’s entirety.“
Cardinals stun Rams, defeat Los Angeles 18-16 (nbcsports.com)
“Entering the week at No. 26 in yards allowed and No. 32 in points allowed, Arizona stifled Los Angeles’ offense throughout the contest.
The Rams barely had 100 yards at halftime with three three-and-outs. It didn’t help that the team lost its new kicker, Blake Grupe, to a knee injury early in the game when he made a tackle on a kickoff.
But the Cardinals were able to control the ball and the clock throughout the afternoon, winning time of possession 34:52 to 25:08. And while the club never reached the end zone, Chad Ryland was automatic in Rams territory with his six field goals — including his 43-yard make as time expired to give Arizona the win.

“Jacoby Brissett passed for 218 yards to balance the Cardinals’ superb defensive effort after yielding 148 points in its past four games. New Cards coach Mike LaFleur won his first meeting with former boss Sean McVay and earned Arizona’s second win this season at SoFi, where it also beat the Chargers in Week 1.
“These guys are a resilient group,” said LaFleur, McVay’s offensive coordinator for the previous three seasons. “We’re learning how to play 60 minutes, and we hadn’t done that yet. Some people might disagree with me, but there’s been times when we looked like a really good football team. We’ve got to finish better in the red zone, stuff like that, but I’m happy for these guys. They put in a lot of work, they heard a lot of (stuff), and they just went to it.”
Everyone taking this long to see Los Angeles Rams not a Super Bowl favorite was NFL’s dumbest moment of Week 6 (foxnews.com)
“But we cannot unsee what happened on Sunday. We cannot forget or forgive the 18-16 loss to the upstart Arizona Cardinals.
At home.
Marking a second consecutive loss at SoFi Stadium.
The Rams are now trolling the people who picked them as the Super Bowl favorites before the season began. They’re making us — yes, me included – look dumb as they’ve piled curious, questionable, disappointing things atop each other en route to last place in the NFC West.“
Chad Ryland out-scored the Rams by himself in NFL’s most surprising win of the season (snbation)
“The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams were at opposite ends of our NFL Power Rankings to open the season. The Rams were the obvious No. 1 team in the rankings entering the year after an explosive offseason headed by trades for Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie. The Cardinals came in at No. 32, dead-last, as they came off a 3-14 season and had major questions at quarterback with Jacoby Brissett slated to be the starter.
Six weeks later, the Cardinals and Rams have the exact same record, and it’s the supposedly mighty Rams who find themselves in the cellar of the NFC West after losing to Arizona on Sunday.“
Sean McVay’s honest assessment after Cardinals loss may concern Rams fans (sports.yahoo)
“Matthew Stafford, who finished 25 of 33 for 222 yards and two touchdowns, capped a 91-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Colby Parkinson with 47 seconds left. Evans’ extra point gave the Rams a 16-15 lead. On the next possession, Jacoby Brissett hit Jalen Brooks for 21 yards, and an unnecessary roughness penalty on cornerback Josh Wallace added 15 more and set up Ryland’s winner.
“So we have a lot to look at ourselves on, and we have to be able to go back to the drawing board and, and figure out how we improve. Because like I just told you guys, you know, we have to be able to not beat ourselves before we figure out how to even come away with some of the results, and it’s not even good enough. And, and I gotta do a much better job and, and clearly that, uh, you know, today is, you know, there’s, there’s nothing positive that I can say about today,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said after the game.“

Debating concern levels for Rams, Seahawks (nbcsports)
“Mike Florio and Chris Simms debate if they’re more concerned about the Rams or Seahawks following their Week 6 losses.”
Comment of the Day:
“Monday morning presser Sean will announce that Ethan Evans will now be our kicker. This will free up a roster spot and allow the team to sign Troy Reeder for special teams. McVay will announce that they have finally cleaned up the ST mess.” -WhatInTheHello
