Ayyoub Bouaddi continues to attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and now former France striker Olivier Giroud (and Bouaddi’s current teammate at Lille) has added his voice to the growing hype surrounding the Moroccan midfielder.
Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Giroud offered an assessment of the 18-year-old, while jokingly pointing to the one area of his game that still needs improvement.
“At Lille, we make fun of Bouaddi a lot because of his finishing. If he has that quality,
he’ll be playing for Real Madrid next year. He’s very similar to Busquets. He’s got his head screwed on right. It’s going to be difficult to keep him at Lille. I’m sure they’ll pay more than 70 million for him.”
The teenager has emerged as one of the most highly rated prospects in French football and has recently been linked with several major European clubs. Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly among the teams monitoring his situation closely, while Real Madrid have also been mentioned as a potential destination as the club continues to evaluate long-term midfield options.
Despite the growing speculation surrounding his future, Bouaddi appears determined to keep his focus on matters on the pitch, speaking to the media after the game against Brazil:
“I am truly happy to know that some clubs are interested in me. But at the moment I am focused solely on the World Cup and we will give everything to achieve the best possible result in the tournament.”
