Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we are talking about Mizzou Baseball!
Mizzou Baseball secured a mid-week home win against Missouri State 5-2 in Columbia.
The win was highlighted by a birthday home run from redshirt freshman Donovan Jordan. The home run marked his second of the season and was a three-run bomb that put Mizzou up 5-2.
Keyler Gonzalez pitched a gem after being subbed in during the third frame. He finished with six innings pitched, a season high, with zero earned
runs and nine strikeouts.
The Tigers are back in action Thursday at home when they take on South Carolina in Game 1 of a three-game series.

Ward was scorching hot at the plate all week going 8-13 (.615 AVG) with a triple and six RBI. In Sunday’s 5-2 win over Kentucky — he reached base all five times with three hits and two HBP. He currently leads Mizzou with a .366 batting average and an even more impressive .500 batting average in SEC play. Not bad for a freshman, eh?
Mizzou might have something bright here.
If you set an 85% tackle accuracy as “acceptable” then you have half of the transfers who played significant snaps last year over that mark and the rest under. Corners and edge rushers tend to have lower tackle accuracy numbers (maybe because their tackles are of them chasing a guy vs. squaring up on a dude? Just a thought) and three of the four lowest guys here are two corners and a defensive end.
Corey Batoon could definitely step these guys up to the next level.
On a day of celebration for Donovan Jordan, he made it count even more. Deadlocked at two in the bottom half of the third, Jordan’s birthday didn’t just see the candles light up; the scoreboard did as well. The former Tiger, who was on the mound, Brock Lucas, presented a second pitch to Jordan that was too nice to pass up.
Definitely a memorable day for Jordan and a strong win for the rest of the team.
Over at Rock M+ we have more Mizzou football discussion and basketball discussion with the offseason picking up for football, and March for basketball.
