Barcelona’s relationship with the Spain national team isn’t the best right now, following Lamine Yamal’s injury, and appears to have taken a further blow after Dani Olmo withdrew from the current call-up.
A new report from Diario AS states that Barcelona have been left “feeling a sense of indignation, but also of bewilderment” with Olmo’s injury.
The reason being that Olmo arrived for international duty with a medical report highlighting how he was suffering from muscle fatigue and some discomfort.
It was a similar report to the one Real Madrid submitted about Dean Huijsen and led to the defender being pulled out of Luis de la Fuente’s squad.
Yet that didn’t happen with Olmo. He also didn’t train all week, as De la Fuente revealed at a press conference this week, and was only eventually ruled out of Spain’s World Cup qualifiers on Friday.
Barcelona aren’t just unhappy with Spain over this matter. The report claims there’s frustration that Olmo wanted to train, despite feeling discomfort, and a feeling he should be able to “read all the signals his body was sending him.”
Olmo is now set for more tests at Barcelona on Monday, with the current feeling that he’s likely to miss next three or four weeks of action and games against Girona, Olympiacos, Real Madrid, Elche, and Club Brugge.
