Gotham FC midfielder Sofia Cook has extended her contract with the club through 2028, the club announced on Monday.
21-year-old Cook signed with Gotham in 2025 out of UCLA, and has made ten appearances with the NWSL Championship-winning club.
“I’m grateful to have started my professional career at Gotham and excited for the opportunity to keep developing here,” said Cook. “I’ve learned so much in my first year and can’t wait to keep playing with my amazing teammates and our awesome fans.”
“Sofia is
a talented player with a very bright future ahead,” said Yael Averbuch West, the general manager and head of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “We’re excited to continue supporting her development and believe this is an environment where she can really thrive.”
Cook played 168 minutes in the regular season for Gotham in 2025. She also started in all four group stages matches of the 2025-26 Concacaf W Champions Cup, where Gotham advanced to the knockout stage, which they will play this spring.
The midfielder also represented Gotham in the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in London, where she started and played all 90 minutes in the third-place match against AS FAR, the Moroccan champions.
Cook plays as an attacking midfielder, a position where Gotham has an abundance of talent, including Rose Lavelle, Jaedyn Shaw, and Sarah Schupansky.
She recently received her first call-up to the Under-23 USWNT camp, which will run from February 27 to March 7. She previously represented the US on the U-15 and U-20 teams. Gotham FC players Andrea Kitahata and Sarah Schupansky were also included on the roster.
Gotham will play preseason matches against Racing Louisville on February 24 and Orlando Pride on March 1 in Florida, before starting the regular season on March 14 with an away match against Boston Legacy FC.
