The USMNT once again took a 1-0 lead early in the match off an own goal, which is now tied as the teams leading scorer with two goals through two matches and resulted in a match high 8.63 ranking for Own Goal.
Jokes about good fortune aside Folarin Balogun forced the issue earlier and the US kept the pressure on, particularly in the first half as they ended the match with a relatively comfortable 2-0 win, not withstanding the bruises they picked up along the way.
The second US goal was scored late
in the first half as a designed corner led to Sergino Dest taking a shot from just outside the 18 yard box that was deflected and eventually headed home by Alex Freeman.
The match was not as easy for the US as the opener against Paraguay but they got the job done and have their options wide open heading into their final group stage match with Turkey as that teams loss on Friday clinched first place for the US thanks to the new tiebreaker rules that are in effect.
The voting was some of the closest we’ve seen in SSFC Community Rankings but it was the US goal scorer Freeman who came out just ahead Chris Richards and is your Man of the Match.
