The Denver Broncos announced on Sunday that they have placed offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo on the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP) and linebacker Jordan Turner on the Actice/Non-Football Injury list (NFI).
Gargiulo, a former 7th-round pick, missed all of the 2025 season after suffering a season-ending knee injury
during the preseason and now will start camp on the PUP. He can be activated off the PUP at any time during camp when he is able to pass a physical, but in the meantime, he will be sidelined for the start of camp. Gargiulo is likely on the outside looking in when it comes to a roster spot, so he’ll need to get healthy quickly if he wants a spot on the Broncos’ 53-man roster. A spot on the practice squad seems more likely for him, but we shall see how it plays out.
The team also announced that they have placed linebacker Jordan Turner on the NFI list. There is no word on why Turner has been placed on the NFI list, but he will start camp sidelined. Like Gargiulo, he can be activated off the list at any point during camp; he just needs to pass a physical and get healthy.
Turner was expected to be a player in the Broncos’ linebacker competition, so this is a blow to his chances, especially if he is sidelined for an extended period of time. With Turner sidelined, this opens up an opportunity for Karene Reid, Levelle Bailey, and rookies Red Murdock and Taurean York. We shall see if any of these linebackers can separate themselves from the competition in the coming days and weeks ahead. I still wouldn’t rule out the team adding a veteran into the mix, but that all depends on how the young players look and how long Turner is going to be sidelined.
