Jon Kunneman is booked for Dana White’s Contender Series for the second year in a row, but after an injury scratched him from his first opportunity, the undefeated prospect is ready to cash in.
Kunneman faces Joseph Kropschot at the DWCS event on Aug. 11. The card takes place at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas and streams exclusively on Paramount+.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday.
The 10-0 Kunneman returns after a lengthy layoff in the
middleweight bout. The current Anthony Pettis Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder was set to face Cam Rowston this past August on DWCS before he was forced to withdraw from the matchup. The longtime training partner of UFC interim lightweight champ Justin Gaethje has finished all 10 of his opponents inside of two rounds, and his past nine in the first round.
Kropschot, the LFA middleweight champion, enters the biggest opportunity of his career on a four-fight win streak — finishing all opponents during the run. In February, Kropschot captured the LFA 185-pound title with a second-round submission of David Allakhverdiev at LFA 226.
