The NFC North was one of the toughest divisions in football last season, and it’s sure to be one of the toughest again this year. From top to bottom, no division has its FanDuel odds as bunched up as the four teams in the NFC North.
Here’s how they currently have it.
Detroit Lions +160
Green Bay Packers +240
Minnesota Vikings +290
Chicago Bears +550
The Bears took a different approach in the preseason by playing starting quarterback Caleb Williams in a couple of games. Perhaps it was because he was the only
division quarterback in a new offense, so head coach Ben Johnson wanted to get him extra work. He went 17 of 25 (68.0%) for 220 yards (8.8 ypa), two touchdowns, no picks, and a passer rating of 122.1. The Bears went (2-0-1) thanks in part to some solid play from their reserves.
The Packers went (2-1) this preseason, and QB Jordan Love only threw five passes, completing 1. He was held out of their finale game with a thumb injury. This is Love’s sixth year with head coach Matt LaFleur, so the limited reps probably won’t matter.
J.J. McCarthy missed his entire rookie season for the Vikings (1-2), but head coach Kevin O’Connell only got him in their first preseason game for 12 snaps, where he went 4 of 7 for 30 yards and a 67.6 passer rating.
The Lions went (1-3), and even though they’re installing offensive coordinator John Morton’s new offense, they’ve kept ten-year veteran Jared Goff on the sideline. Detroit’s preseason star was rookie, third-round receiver. Isaac TeSlaa, who had 10 catches for 146 yards and 3 TDs.
Did the preseason performances from these four teams change your minds on who you think will win the NFC North?
