When 55-year-old Chris Jericho defeated 21-year-old Nick Wayne last week on AEW Dynamite, it was just a matter of time until the rematch was booked. There isn’t enough room on the card for the rematch at this weekend’s All Out pay-per-view, but that’s okay, because they will instead run it back in Paris on Tuesday, October 6, at AEW Grand Slam France.
The match was made official on tonight’s (Sept. 23) special live hour of Collision during a promo segment where Wayne called Jericho a dumbass and Jericho called him
a douchebag. Chris went on to tell a story from very early in his career when Nick Bockwinkel criticized him for working too fast and doing too many moves. Jericho was the young, arrogant prick who ignored advice from an all-time great, and probably would have reached the top of the industry sooner if only he listened.
Wayne saw where Chris was going with this story and laughed at the idea that old man Jericho has anything valuable to teach The Prodigy. The only thing Wayne learned is that he needs to change who he is to beat Jericho, and that’s what will happen whey they fight again in less than two weeks at Grand Slam France.
Wayne extended his hand and said the man who knows more will win. Jericho accepted the challenge but said Nick isn’t a man. In Paris, Jericho is going to kick the shit out of a kid…again.
