Earlier this year, Tom Brady was beefing with WWE stars like YouTube douchebag Logan Paul, leading some fans to think the NFL legend might actually make an appearance and get physical at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. That didn’t happen, but it’s probably a lock that Brady will eventually wrestle in WWE based on comments he made today on Cody Rhodes’s live What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast at Fanatics Fest in New York City.
Brady urged WWE President Nick Khan to bring him in (and book his creative
direction?) for at least one match after revealing that he has yet to receive an invite from the company.
“I need to get an invite. I mean, I’ve been waiting for Nick Khan to come up with some storyline for me to get in the mix. I feel like, I’m retired from football. I have the opportunity to go out there and still showcase that I’m a little bit of an athlete. My boy Gronk’s done it. I’ve seen obviously Logan Paul do it. I think I could get in there for at least one match, right? Come on, Nick. Come on, make it happen!”
The all-time great quarterback loved being a hated bad guy in the NFL, so it was a no-brainer answer when Cody asked Brady if he wants to be a babyface or heel in WWE.
“It’s such an easy choice. I’m a bad guy. I’ve always been a bad guy.
I feel like…when you go on the road and you’ve had some success in the NFL, they don’t like you. It’s an incredible feeling when you work that entire day to basically try to send the crowd home early. And it’s a great feeling when you go on the road [to a] visiting stadium, where there’s 70,000 fans against you. And with three minutes left in the game, you look up in the stands, and there’s 20,000 people left. And a lot of them are now rooting for you, and you realize, okay, job well done today. That was the motivation every time we took the field on the road.”
After Tom expressed his clear interest in working a WWE match, Cody spoke on Khan’s behalf by saying “the invite is certainly open.”
Based on this exchange, do you think it is more likely than ever that Tom Brady will compete in WWE one day? If so, who do you think he should wrestle against? Will the government of Saudi Arabia pay the big bucks to secure Brady’s WWE debut match next year at WrestleMania 43 in a QB1 vs. QB1 match against babyface Rhodes?
Let me know your appetite for seeing bad guy Tom Brady get his ass kicked in WWE, Cagesiders.
