What strange bedfellows we have in AAA with the latest chapter of WWE’s lucha libre telenovela. Dominik Mysterio saved El Grande Americano from Los Perros del Mal. Let that sink in.
Dirty Dom and El Grande Americano are former allies. They split ways when Dom mistreated his companion, and EGA got so popular in Mexico that AAA had to turn him tecnico. El Grande Americano won the Rey de Reyes tournament and with that comes a title shot for the AAA Mega Championship held by Dominik. That epic showdown
is set for Triplemania in September.
In the meantime, Los Perros del Mal reformed and attacked El Grande Americano as their first target.
That brings us to the live episode of AAA on Saturday night (July 11, 2026) from San Luis Potosi. AAA general manager Rey Mysterio approached El Grande Americano in the locker room. Rey warned that Los Perros del Mal are dangerous. They attacked EGA as the biggest dog in the yard to mark their territory. Rey advised EGA that he can’t fight them alone. EGA agreed, but he won’t back down.
Dominik entered the scene with two scoops of sass for his worthless father. Dom blamed Rey for being a weak general manager, and the Perros are taking advantage of that. Dominik will face EGA at Triplemania for the mega title, but that can’t happen if Los Perros put EGA in the hospital. Dom was also concerned that he will become a target, so he proposed that they watch each other’s back. EGA rightfully didn’t trust Dom’s word. He’ll believe it when he sees it. Dom closed the scene with a hair flip of his mullet.
When the main event match turned out to be Money Machine versus Noisy Boy & Epydemius Jr., it was obvious that the Perros would come barking. The luchadores were given time to work, then Karmen Petrovic arrived on stage. That was the cue for the rest of the Perros to attack. Poor Money Machine. Their clothes were ripped off down to their boxers.
Daga grabbed the mic to call out El Grande Americano. EGA is no dummy. He didn’t come alone. EGA was flanked by Bravo and Rayo. Unfortunately, Bronco Nima manhandled them. EGA was left alone surrounded by Perros. True to word, he didn’t back down. Los Perros pounced to pummel the hero. That’s when Dominik ran out with a chair for the save. Dirty Dom challenged Los Perros to a tag team match with EGA as his partner at Verano de Escandalo on July 25.
That story arc through the episode is the next great chapter for the legend that is El Grande Americano. EGA finds a friend when he least expected it, and that man happens to be the untrustworthy Dirty Dom. Skeptics will be weary to put confidence in Dominik. He took his sweet time coming for the save, and he never made contact with the enemy. Of course, that could just be AAA milking the drama to pop the crowd. There’s a long road to go until Triplemania, and this is an intriguing start.
