It’s the final group stage round of the 2025-26 season in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Another situation in which a draw for Chelsea Women won’t suffice. The Blues must win this match if they want
“smooth sailing” into the competition’s knockout rounds as they sit third in the league table, but with few points separating them from several other teams right behind them.
This pack of “chasers” includes our opponents, who are a regular thorn on our side. They might not be as much of a powerhouse as they once were. However they remain a tough nut to crack, especially when playing with home support.

Wolfsburg team news: It was a summer of rebuilding for the German outfit, with several key players such as defender Kathrin Hendrich, goalkeeper Merle Frohms and attacking midfielder Jule Brand leaving the club at the end of their respective contracts. To make up for these exits Wolfsburg had to go into the market, bringing in the likes of Brighton defender Guro Bergsvand and Paris FC forward Kessya Bussy to fill in the gaps.
At least fitness hasn’t been an issue for them as the hosts have no major injury concerns for the squad that will face Chelsea. Hooray!… for them.
Chelsea team news: Beating Brighton in a Women’s Super League match wasn’t a special occasion. It was still notable as it put Chelsea back on a winning streak, albeit a very short one, following a rather weird stretch of three winless games for the blues.
The Blues will be missing defender Nathalie Björn whose hamstring injury means she’ll be sidelined for a few weeks at least. There are good news regarding Hannah Hampton with the goalkeeper listed in the squad that travelled to Germany. But according to Sonia Bompastor she remains happy with her immediate substitute, Livia Peng.
Previously: Superb efficiency in front of goal gets us a 3-0 win over the German side at their turf.
