Real Madrid completed their final training session on Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s La Liga meeting with Oviedo at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Álvaro Arbeloa receiving a pair of timely boosts before the match.
The session at Valdebebas largely focused on tactical preparation and sharpness work as Madrid looked to finalize preparations for the Round 36 fixture. Players began with mobility and reaction-speed exercises before moving into rondos and possession drills. The training session then shifted
toward tactical work and an internal practice match before concluding with shooting and set-piece routines.
The biggest positives from the session were the returns of Kylian Mbappé and Dani Carvajal, both of whom trained normally with the group and appear available for Thursday night’s game. Their availability now leaves Arbeloa with key decisions regarding whether either player will immediately return to the starting lineup.
Mbappé’s potential return is mildly significant given the French forward remains in the race for the Pichichi trophy and is battling for La Liga’s top scorer award heading into the final stretch of the season.
There was also encouraging news regarding Dean Huijsen, who completed part of the session with the team as he continues progressing in his recovery. However, Ferland Mendy, Éder Militão, Arda Güler, Rodrygo, and Federico Valverde all remained on individualized recovery programs and were unavailable to fully participate with the squad.
Meanwhile, Andriy Lunin did not train after suffering from a viral infection and is not expected to be included in the squad list against Oviedo. The Ukrainian goalkeeper spent part of his career on loan at the Asturian club, but he now appears set to miss the reunion due to illness.
Despite the institutional noise surrounding the club following Florentino Pérez’s presidential election announcement earlier this week, the atmosphere at Valdebebas appeared fully focused on football matters as Madrid continue preparing for the final phase of the league campaign.
