The transfer rumor mill never really stops, does it? Around a month after the 2025 summer transfer window closed, clubs are already beginning to make big moves ahead of January and summer transfer windows of 2026. Two of those clubs are Liverpool FC and Bayern Munich, according to Florian Plettenberg:
Liverpool are still giving everything to sign Marc Guéhi on a free transfer next summer, with ongoing talks taking place. The Reds are very concrete in their interest — as are Barcelona. However, Guéhi is
also waiting to see whether Real Madrid make a move. Max Eberl have also expressed concrete interest on the player’s side in case either Dayot Upamecano or Min-jae Kim were to leave.
Liverpool were very closely linked with the former Chelsea FC player the previous summer but the move fell apart on the last day. Given his contract expires next summer, this makes Guéhi an attractive proposition for any club. Liverpool will naturally still be the favorites to sign the player they had already come to terms with a month ago but the collapse of the transfer changes many things. Perhaps Bayern could steal in and take advantage of the market opportunity.
Bayern have, after all, already had some dealings with Crystal Palace, signing Michael Olise from them and selling them Chris Richards, who has blossomed into a regular starter over in London (ignore the failed Oliver Glasner bid). Perhaps the Bavarians could, yet again, do business with Crystal Palace and build on the growing English contingent.
